Recent evidence suggests a link between vitamin D insufficiency and impaired glucose tolerance status and increased risk of type 2 diabetes. This study was designed as a matched case-control study. The results shown that vitamin D insufficiency was associated with type 2 diabetes individuals in women, but the association was not in men. The risk of vitamin D insufficiency in urban patient with diabetes was higher than in rural areas.
